GeForce GTX 260 and 280, New Gamer Monsters!

Posted by: admin  :  Category: NVIDIA

More than a year and a half is the period during which the 8800 GTX is still what we may call high-end NVIDIA. Now of course, six months after its release, and happy coincidence, just before the arrival of the R600, we saw land a 8800 Ultra with slightly higher frequencies, but nothing Folichon. There are two and a half months, the arrival of the 9800 GTX foreshadowed a substantial increase in performance but in the end the card offered only limited profit on our good old GTX and was behind the Ultra version. If the owners of these cards could rejoice in their investment, there was still time to propose more than a few MHz scraped here and there or to use combinations of two GPUs on one card.

NVIDIA finally heard us: the GTX 280 offers the first real reworking of the architecture G8x. We know now the modus operandi of the Californian firm: introduce a new architecture on a proven method of engraving. Indeed, given the often high number of transistors the chip is expensive to produce and using the cards are still expensive but it can occupy the land. During the years following NVIDIA derives its architecture on the whole segment of the range by using an etching finer but less optimized for high frequencies. Finally when the new process is controlled NVIDIA actually enjoy premium sound that becomes more affordable. We saw it with the G70/G71, G80/G92 and the history repeats itself: here is the GT200, a real monster of 1.4 billion transistors engraved at 0.65µm.

Notebook Games : Rome: Total War

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Notebook Games

The action begins in the year -270 Ave. AD, the goal of the game is to conquer and rule over a growing empire. The game features twenty factions (or SPQR Roman Senate, House Julii, Brutii House, House Scipii, Greek cities, Macedonia, Thrace, Pontus, Seleucid Empire, Egypt, Numidia, Carthage, Spain, Gaul, Columbia, Dacia, Germany, Scythia, Parthia and Armenia).

The ultimate goal, both on the battlefield than using murderers or spies, to become Emperor of Rome. The game is divided into two modes: campaign mode and battle mode, very closely related at a party. Your actions on the campaign map decide the circumstances of battle and the outcome of these battles, played on another card, of course impact on the campaign. The campaign mode is going to turn, and the battle mode in real time.

Various events may occur in campaign mode: civil revolt, volcanic eruption, plague, flood, military reforms of Marius … Other events are purely informative as a discovery technique or cultural evolution.

We must also take into account deaths and births in the family embodies the player to not be caught off guard when choosing an heir or loss of the head of the faction.

The aim of the battles in real time is:

* Not to lose his general (death of a general weakening of the military one);
* Frighten away the enemy or kill;
* Take possession of a city during a siege.

The game has received several honors at the 2004 convention of

Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion

Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion

Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion

Barbarian Invasion is in the tradition of earlier Total War expansions, he introduced a new campaign
starting in 363 AD. JC. when a threat arises to challenge the Roman Empire. Each faction has a goal he achieved the first, he must win a number of territories and territorial specific binding. It is in this extension of playable factions (Eastern Roman Empire, Western Roman Empire, Alamanni, Franks, Saxons, Huns, Vandals, Sassanian, Goths) and non-playable factions (Burgundians, Lombards, Celts, Slavs, Ostrogoths, Britto-Romans, Berbers).

The new contribution, besides a redrawn map, is in principle for the hordes factions, providing a challenge for players to Roman cope. In the previous episode, a civilization that no longer had cited disappeared from the map. In Barbarian Invasion, some factions like the Vandals and the Goths again become a nomadic people once lost their last community. Wandering in search of a new province established, the hordes are an army on the march difficult to contain, not hesitating to raze cities, although their main objective is to settle in, displacing the owner . In addition, it is now possible to
engage the enemy in a night battle, offering a significant bonus in a seat at the assailant, or to cross a river by the light troops (albeit with the risk of their drowning if they are too exhausted) to avoid the trap of the bridge crossing.

Another major innovation is the emergence of religion in maintaining public order. Three religions (Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Paganism) pose problems of policing and competition between cities.

Rome: Total War - Alexander

Alexander is an official add-on available at first and then download only recently released in stores
alone or in boxed Rome Total War. It proposes a new campaign which traces the exploits of the Emperor of Macedonia to Persia, the addition of sixty new units, such as Hypaspists or Companions, six new historical battles, changes to the multiplayer battles and 4 new factions (Army of Alexander, Persians, Indians and Barbarians). Only Macedonian faction can be played in campaign mode (the others were available in battle mode).

Some criticism of the lack of realism of the original game (Vanila total war), including the anachronism of the Egyptian faction, poor barbarian units, the three Roman factions, units or their whimsical bright colors, have brought fans to create shortly after leaving the game several changes, first to reach a larger historical reality starting from the original game, offering other territories and particular periods or fancier.

These changes range from simple grooming a complete reworking of the game (new maps, units, factions, music, interface, graphics). Some work on different versions of Rome: Total War, others on the Barbarian Invasion expansion. These mods are created mainly in international forums of the community and are therefore mostly in English. Follows a non-exhaustive selection of these available or nearing completion:

A major disappointment for the game was the lack of multi-player campaign that would have allowed the player to no longer fight in multiplayer battles without consequences.

To fill this gap has been created first module external campaign in Rome Total War, Virtua Roma, allowing the ownership and management of an empire or a part of empire in the way of the single player campaign, but even more detailed: large numbers of resources that, unlike the solo finally have an impact, since lack of wheat will lead to famine in his empire, lack of iron or bronze impede the creation of unity Soldiers complete, or even a simple lack of incense will cause a loss of efficiency of the temples, causing a decline in morale and hence population growth, and finally return … the snowball effect are numerous.

The game interface allows to manage diplomacy with other human players and the AI players, building
construction, trade and taxes, economic development, espionage.

The battles can be resolved in line with the game Rome TotalWar and RTR mod, or automatic resolution for battles without interest, willingness of the protagonists.

The game also allows follow the appearance of characters, currently only the generals, who give bonus
units or quoted directly in the game
